Cookham homes sought for First World War soldiers
Around 100 houses in
Cookham are receiving letters telling them that one of the 'sons of
Cookham' killed in the First World War used to live in their
house. The book about these men (and boys) - We Will
Remember Them - is now on sale at the Stationery Depot in
Station Parade, Cookham Rise. As well as giving profiles of
113 men whose names are on local war memorials, or who are known to
have connections with Cookham, the 180-page paperback provides an
address list for all of the houses in which they or their families
lived.
The books are
priced at £7 and have been 'flying off the shelf'. A reprint
is already being planned in order to have enough copies available at
events around the centenary of the Armistice on 11th November.
If anyone wants a copy but can't get to the Stationery depot they
can order one via sonsofcookham@gmail.com
