TARRYSTONE

PROUDLY
PRESENT
The
Hilarious
by Alan Ayckbourn
Half-a-dozen relatives
and friends are celebrating Christmas with Neville and Belinda. Various
children are also there: though unseen, their presence is always felt and
indeed seems duplicated in the adults. Petty, and not so petty, squabbles
break out and Christmas presents are rifled. A final climax, resulting from
the arrival of a young writer, Clive, leads to what appears to be tragedy
as he is shot by the trigger-happy Harvey as a looter.
(Synopsis from
Samuel French acting edition) "Season's Greetings is a play about
love and about... how unfair it all is. And success and failure. And
jealousy and self-deception. And greed and envy and lust and gluttony.
Just an average family Christmas. And looming over the proceedings in true
pantomime spirit the shadow of two eccentric uncles, the good angel and
the bad one..."
