Our Appeal: Cookham Scout Group is looking for new adult helpers.  The Scout Association has just launched an exciting new programme, and to make the most of it in Cookham, and to build on our existing successful activities, we want to find some new volunteers to help the current team.     

Who are Cookham Scouts?  Cookham has one of the biggest and most successful Scout Groups in Berkshire.  We run many camps and special events throughout the year, as well as our regular weekly meetings.  The Scout Group is also well known to villagers through big public events like the Summer Fair and our annual Bonfire.   

 We have two colonies of Beaver Scouts (for boys aged 6 to 8), meeting on Monday and Friday evenings, plus two Cub Packs (for (age 8 to ten and a half), meeting on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  The Scout Troop for (10 to 14) meets on Friday Nights, as does the Explorer Unit for boys and girls aged 14 to 18. We provide an exciting and challenging programme of activities for all these age groups.  We have our own well-equipped Headquarters in Pearce Drive and a Campsite by the Thames.

What sort of help are we looking for?  We are looking for help in all areas:

-         Regular helpers at Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer meetings

-         People with specialist skills to help instruct in sports, hobbies and outdoor activities

-         Behind-the-scenes help with administration and fundraising. 

We are looking for people who can help out every week in the School term, but also for people who would be interested in helping pass on a hobby or skill to young people once or twice a year.  No Scouting experience is necessary.  All relevant training is provided and all expenses incurred are refunded.
