Life Insurance Policyholders

Action Group

supporting the Life Insurance Policy Holders of Equitable Life

WHY THE APPARENT MUTED REACTION, IF NOT SILENCE, TO THE EQUITABLE SCANDAL BY THOSE EQUITABLE LIFE VICTIMS WHO PURCHASED VARIOUS WITH PROFITS LIFE INSURANCE  PRODUCTS?

Undoubtedly many policyholders with Life Insurance, rather than Pension products, belong to one or a number of the Equitable action groups. Nevertheless, It is surprising that there is little publicity about the fate of these Life policy holders - except possibly for investors in w/p investment bonds. By contrast the fate of Gar and Non-Gar pension policyholders and annuitants is, quite rightly, highlighted by the Press. Where is the outcry from policyholders with endowments, savings plans, protection plans (stand alone or part of Income Plans), childrens’ plans etc. that was invested in the single & common Pensions & Life Insurance with profits fund ? This muted reaction is intriguing. Certainly no action group has been specifically formed, for members past and present, who invested in Equitable Life’s full suite of Life Insurance policies or product packages

Is the explanation (a) Apart from with profit investment bonds there were very few members with other types of Life Insurance products in the Equitable with profits fund ? (b) Their losses are such they have decided to write them off and if compensation should come, in the future, it will be welcome but not worth making much of a clamour ? (d) Apathy ?

The purpose of this insertion on the Equitable Life Members Help Group website is to conduct a survey of those members, past and present, who consider that there is a need for a Life Insurance Policyholders Action Group (LIPAG) to "fight their corner". Its role would be to attempt to ensure that the losses suffered by Life Insurance policyholders is adequately publicised and that their situation is fairly considered by those parties - whoever they may be - charged with the calculation of compensation, should this be forthcoming from the Government.

To gauge the level of interest in forming such an action group, from with profits Life Insurance Policyholders ( past & present), interested readers of this website are kindly invited to reply by e-mailing LIPAG@equitablelifemembers.org.uk with answers to the following questions.
