Below is a suggested letter that you could write to your MP to encourage him/her to sign Roy Beggs' Early Day Motion. It can also be used for those who have either left Equitable or have never been policy holders, but have growing concerns that this may just be the top of the iceberg. Please feel free to amend as you think fit, as MPs tend to discard stereotype letters. | ||
Dear xxxxx I understand that a Parliamentary Early Day Motion number 206 has
been put forward by Stephen O'Brien MP as follows: As one of your constituents I am writing to urge you to sign the EDM. I have a policy at XXXX and have been following the Equitable saga with growing alarm, as I can see the issues involved could affect all our lives, whether Equitable Life policyholders or not. In particular the lack of information and the way the policyholders have been treated has horrified me. I fully support the idea of a full Parliamentary Ombudsman inquiry as soon as possible. Please support this motion. A Sample Letter Written by a Policyholder
Dear Mr xxx
My apologies for writing to you again about the Equitable Life fiasco but I see that a colleague of yours - a Mr Stephen O'Brien - has an Early Day Motion calling for a truly independent enquiry by the Parliamentary Ombudsman which I see you are not currently listed as supporting. Could
I respectfully ask you to consider supporting this as our one hope of a
truly independent enquiry? Could I also urge you to push for this enquiry and any others to consider a much earlier and broader period that the 1999-2001 that the Penrose whitewash - sorry, enquiry! - is doing? Thank you in advance Yours sincerely |
