Members of Elizabeth House were tucking into a delicious lunch when The Rt Hon Teresa May MP arrived at Cookham’s centre for the over 60s.  She was there to open the newly refurbished kitchen.

The units and equipment were upgraded, thanks to generous donations from local individuals and organisations and grants from RBWM and Kings Hall Trust.

Chairman Glenn Maybury paid tribute, saying “We are extremely lucky to have enjoyed amazing support from the local community from the very beginning.   Local individuals and organisations have been generous donors and without our wonderful volunteers we could not to deliver the level of service to the elderly and frail in our community.   Together with our staff of three, they make Elizabeth House the very special place that it is for our members.”

He remembered Elisabeth Sanders whose determination 35 years ago made the centre possible and expressed condolences at the recent loss of her husband.
