Cookham Christmas Fayre 2016 (with thanks to Stephanie Diggan) (29 November 2016) |

Hundreds
of visitors turned up to the Cookham Christmas Fayre at Moor Hall and left
with armfuls of unique gifts and decorations from more than 30 stalls. Boys
and girls from Cookham Rise and Holy Trinity schools and the Razzmatazz
Theatre School in Marlow entertained the crowds with Christmas songs and
carols, as did the ladies of the Cookham Handbell Ringers. A
raffle run by staff and volunteers from Elizabeth House proved very
successful with a first prize of a Copas turkey, and visitors also crowded
round two tombolas. Members of the popular day centre were on hand selling
Christmas cards and knitted goods that they had made themselves. All
together they raised over £3000 – providing a valuable contribution
towards the annual running costs of the centre. “Everyone
had a really good time on the day. This is the main fundraising
event for Elizabeth House, Cookham’s club for the over 60’s”,
explained Fayre organiser and Elizabeth House trustee Stephanie Diggon.
“We are grateful to The Chartered Institute of Marketing for letting us
use Moor Hall for free. We do not charge local charities and
organisations, and retailers’ fees go to Elizabeth House.”
