GREAT FUNDRAISER FOR ROTARY AND ELIZABETH HOUSE with thanks to Stephanie Duggan (26 January 2014) |
|
A
concert by the London Welsh Male Voice Choir, organised by the Cookham
Bridge Rotary Club, has raised £8,700 for Elizabeth House, Cookham’s
local day care centre for the over 60s. Wendy
Craig, longstanding President of Elizabeth House, received a cheque from
Steve Downing, President of the Cookham Bridge Rotary Club and thanked the
Rotarians on behalf of Elizabeth House for helping its members live
happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives. “The
money has been allocated for preventative maintenance on the lift, heating
and refurbishment”, explained Dr John Lloyd-Parry, chairman of Elizabeth
House’s management committee. “Without government funding, we
depend on the wonderful contributions of individuals and local charitable
organisations in order to meet our annual running costs of £70,000”.
Over the past ten years, The Cookham Bridge Rotary Club has donated more than £150,000 to many local good causes. The funds were raised from local events they organised for the community. |
