On Sunday 22 August the Cookham and Maidenhead branch of Amnety arranged an AmnesTea which was very successful.  Lots of people came, long standing group members, newer Amnesty supporters, and others who were not Amnesty members but just fancied tea and cake in pleasant surroundings.  People even came from the river and walkers dropped in. It was really worth it for a fantastic array of delicious cakes.

AmnesTea Time

As an added extra Theresa May MP managed to find time in her very busy schedule to come along, say a few words to us all, drink tea and chat, along with a group of security men (as Theresa is now Home Sectratary) who relished the cakes.

At the AmnesTea Chairman Janet Dawson was taking photos showing people holding up one hand with the name of a Burmese prisoner of conscience written on it.  These  photos will become part of the  Amnesty Burma photo action which will be used at the ASEAN conference in October.   Burmese people had been arrested for just making boats out of leaflets and sailing them down the river.
