The Hottest Fun Bike Ride

13 August 2003

(With thanks to Timmy and Lynda Mallett)

On the hottest day of the year, 24 keen Cookhamites met at Cookham Station for a family fun  bike ride. At 6pm as the temperature was still up around the 32 degrees the cyclists gathered with their bottles of water and snacks to peddle off on a gentle ride taking in some great off road trails.

Phew, it's hot

Over the ridiculous stiles at the entrance ot the Green way cycle track at Lightlands Lane  through Maidenhead  , and Braywick when Beno Smith had "technical difficulties!"  Thank goodness Roger from Cookham Cyles was there to put things right!

 The Greenway Cycle Track

Through Braywick and Bray with a stop at the Crown pub for refreshments in the glorious sunny evening. Over the river near Bray Marina and back along the towpath. The sunset at Bray lock and by the Sounding Arch were spectacular.

In total we were out for 3 hours and did about 13 miles or so. With the kids going backwards and forwards to ask is this the way? maybe they did 18 miles!...
