Goodbye Cookham Tavern, Hallo Gandhi Restaurant

(10 February 2002)

Sunday 10th February the Cookham Tavern closed its doors for the last time to be re-born as the Gandhi Indian Restaurant.

The President of the Cookham Bridge Rotary Pours the Wine

Mr Ahmed who came from London, opened his restaurant in June last year as a pub restaurant.  He has now decided to concentrate wholly on an Indian cuisine and to launch this he is also renaming the Tavern.   To celebrate he had a launch party for some of his more frequent customers.  The wine flowed freely accompanied by the delicious dishes for which Mr Ahmed is becoming well known throughout the area.  All made with fresh ingredients, they are some of the best in the area.

The Appetising First Course

Mr Ahmed is the chef and is reknowned for both his Indian and Continental cuisine and has had extensive experience in both Indian and European food and is the winner of national culinary awards. He has worked in some of London's top hotels including the Ritz and the Radisson Edwardian.

The Main Course with a Variety of Meat and Vegetable Dishes

Mr Ahmed is planning on a completely new menu for his new look restaurant and a few of the dishes were on offer for the launch.

The Restaurant Area

Everyone agreed that the food at the restaurant was outstanding and also extremely good value for money.  It was also useful to come home from work and pick up a takeaway.

Mr Ahmed Thanks Everyone for Coming to the Launch Party

Cookham.com wish Mr Ahmed the very best of luck with his renamed restaurant and would recommend everyone to drop in and have a meal or just take it away.
