‘Deliciously French’ Nominated For Its Quality Baguettes

Local sandwich shop and delicatessen, Deliciously French, based in Cookham has been commended in a national competition designed to recognise quality and excellence in French baguettes.

 

The La Baume Best Baguette Awards, organised by French wine company, La Baume, was designed to find the nation’s Best Baguette and Best Filled Baguette.  Deliciously French was commended in the Best Filled Baguette category for the outstanding quality of its Brie baguette.

 

Baguettes from all around the country, some from sandwich companies, others nominated by consumers were entered into the competition.

The best shortlisted entries were delivered to Maison Novelli, one of London’s top restaurants where a panel of experts including top French chef, restaurateur and ex baker, Jean Christophe Novelli, staff writer of British Baker magazine, Dan Lepard and La Baume winemaker, Ashley Huntington judged the winning baguettes.

 

Commenting on their win, Mr Stopien of Deliciously French said:  “This is excellent news.  All of our breads are baked on the premises and we only use the finest ingredients sourced direct from France so we are very pleased that the quality has been acknowledged.”

 

The winners of the La Baume Best Baguette competition were announced at the same time as new research by NOP research revealed that the Brits are a nation of Francophiles aspiring to a French lifestyle including French wine, French cooking, shorter working hours and a warmer climate.

Waitrose scooped the title of Best Baguette for their Flute and Country Choice Foods took the title of Best Filled Baguette for their Moroccan Lamb Baguette.

 

The La Baume French wine range comes from the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France and includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Viognier, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, all of which can be found in supermarkets around the country.
