On April 17th, Cookham High Street welcomed the reopening of one of the region’s top residential homes.  Moor Cottage, a family-run residential home of 14 rooms, reopened after two years of renovation and renewal, with the aim, according to its proprietors, of establishing a new standard of care for the Buckinghamshire-Berkshire region.

Moor Cottage is owned by the mother-and-son team of Rana Rezajooi, a trained nurse, and Dr Kia Rezajooi, FRCS, a British neurosurgeon. Now joined by two other family members previously based in California , with experience of the latest in American care methods, are reopening Moor Cottage as an exclusive home where, they say, “we will care for your beloved family members as you would wish to care for them yourselves”.

“Moor Cottage offers residents both the convenience of all local amenities of the village, and the scenic beauty of the surrounding countryside,” says Mrs Rezajooi. “We pride ourselves on maintaining an extremely high standard of care and comfort”.

The home has rooms on average 50% larger than the National minimum standards, most of which have en suite facilities and views of the gardens. All have Nurse Call, television and telephone points. Family and friends can visit in the privacy of the rooms or in the spacious and comfortable lounge area.

“Because we cater for a small number, our residents will find it easier to form new friendships not only with each other but also with the staff,” Mrs Rezajooi says.

The combined medical knowledge and experience of the team behind Moor Cottage, as well as regular life profiling, means “our residents will receive just the extra assistance they may need with their daily activities, while helping them maintain the privacy, dignity and independence that means so much to them”, according to Mrs Rezajooi.

"Our attitude is based upon the conscious recognition that residents do not live in our place of work, but that we work in our residents' home.”

The reopening of Moor Cottage will be welcomed by anybody who is contemplating moving to a residential home, and by those who wish to have top-quality facilities for their loved ones. Situated in the heart of Cookham, next to the Common and on the high street, it has large, airy public areas and a lovely enclosed private garden.  Food is freshly cooked on premises daily by a trained chef.

Limited places are available for those interested in providing the best standards of care for their loved ones.
