The sun shone for the Cookham Dean Fête on Saturday 13th September which was held on the on the Old Cricket Common at Cookham Dean.  The theme this year was the Vikings and there were some fights going on between the horned invaders.

Do Vikings drive cars?

There was all the fun of the fair with a carrousel and an enormous slide which was extremely popular.

That's a long way down

The Liberal Democrats were winning over voters with Indian delicacies prepared by Mandy Brar, one of our new Parish Councillors.

Vote Lib Dem and have an onion bhaji

An interesting feature was ferret racing.  The ferrets looked adorable, luckily no one got bitten, as they had extremely sharp teeth.

The Kaffirs were there with the Cherrypicker Inn, which was extremely popular and had large amounts of people around all afternoon quenching their thirst in the afternoon sun.

Drink Up!

The WI supplied cream teas in their newly refurbished hall.  This was a welcome place to sit down both inside and outside in the newly landscaped exterior.

The Cookham Dean Village Hall was full of garden produce and enormous chrysanthemums and dahlias with some magnificent colours. There were onions and marrows that were large enough to feed an army and the longest courgette ever.  It must have been nearly five foot.  Charles Benson did an outstanding job auctioning off some of the produce at the end of the show.

That's a big 'un

The Cookham Society were selling Christmas cards. There were two designs both of paintings of Cookham by local artists.  Richard Gold, chairman of the Cookham Society, was the lucky winner of a bottle of Scotch.  Richard being Scottish should enjoy that.  Is that a pint glass he has in his other hand though?

Bottoms up!
