Cookham Arts Club is closing its 70th anniversary year with an exhibition at the Gallery at Elizabeth House, opening on 10th December.  There is a wide range of work on show and for sale, representing the varied talents of local artists.  It's a great opportunity to enjoy the high quality of work  created locally - and maybe find just the right Christmas present.

The club was formed during the dark days of the Second World War for the study and encouragement of the arts. It holds an annual exhibition in August and a weekend art sale in March. The club encourages modern as well as traditional styles.

It's also very active and is open to people who practice or are generally interested in the arts.  There are weekly painting workshops  and 3-4 day workshops led by a professional artist, as well as trips to London galleries. There are monthly demonstrations from professional artists, critique evenings twice a year and outdoor painting sessions once a month.  There is also an annual  club holiday. Social events in the summer and at Christmas add to the enjoyment. Beginners are given encouragemnent and support and help and advice is available to all from fellow members. You can find out more about the club from the membership secretary Janet Fois on 01628 474538.

The Gallery is open 9.30to 11.30 am weekdays and 10am to 4pm Saturdays and Elizabeth House receives a commission on all paintings sold.  The Arts Club exhibition will continue to February

Pictures show part of the exhibition and Robert Jones and Margaret Scott with two of their paintings on show.
