The Cookham Society had a full hall at Cookham Dean Primary School to listen to Chrissie Rosenthal and Anne Danks illustrated talk, Cookham Voices on Wednesday 15th October 2003. The talk was based on the two books that Chrissie and Anne had produced on Cookham and included some of the conversations they had had with Cookham residents.  Several of those who had been interviewed about Cookham as it was were in the audience, such as Kate Swan, who was born in Cookham Village in 1911 and whose father was the baker.

A glass of wine was included in the price and the Cookham had willing helpers to fill up glasses.

The talk was introduced by Pablo Dubois who is one of the Cookham Society Events Committee Co-ordinators. Chrissie then talked about how she had first got involved in the idea of writing a book about Cookham Voices.  She said it was Cookham FM, the radio station Cookham had in 1997 and 1999, that gave her the idea.  People had talked about Cookham and this information would be lost if someone did not gather it together.  We are lucky that Anne and Chrissie decided to do this, as so much of Cookham's history and heritage could be lost.
