Ponchanads, Cookham Rise

Usually don't have desserts in Indian restaurants as they're usually poor quality frozen things shown by equally bad photographs. However, the chef at the Ponchanad made a hot milk based semolina and almond dessert which wasn't on the menu and was wonderful.

The food at Ponchanad is exceptional. It's a fusion of Goan, Bangledeshi with
a hint of European.
Combined with a great atmosphere and welcoming staff, even the chef has come out and discussed what he would recommend I should eat, it really is the best Indian I have eaten in, in a long time.
The food prepared is not the sloppy pre-prepared base which has been sitting in the fridge for days most
Indian restaurants provide, this is fresh, wonderful seafood and a lot of care and attention is taken to ensure you are happy with the food you are to eat.

I agree that Take-away would not do them justice. One of the delights of their food is the presentation with sauces arranged in very artistic ways on the plates.
I also agree that they aim to please and I would be surprised if they did not increase the size of your portion on request.
I have eaten in many restaurants that are highly rated by Guides such as the Good Food Guide but it is not often that I am taken by surprise by the high standards of a new restaurant.

We had a take-away from there and found the portions too small - and we are only little people!!

We went to Ponchanad for the first time this evening. One of the best and most innovative Indian meals we have ever eaten. Superb use of spices and excellent presentation of the food.
Service was also excellent and good value for money.

This is one of the best places to open up in a long time. I'm very fussy about my curry but this place is great, well done!

I agree, it's fantastic. I took my fiancé last week for a treat and we'll definitely be going back. They have 10% off on take away too which is good.

Ponchanad are fantastic. Urge locals to try it. The staff couldn't be nicer too. Beautiful atmosphere.
