Cookham May Bank Holiday weekend and a
people were out all over our beautiful countryside enjoying the blue
skies, warm sunshine and fabulous views.
The friends and family bike ride covered
around 14 miles from the middle of Cookham to Golden Ball Lane, Bisham,
Temple and Marlow and there are so many lovely lanes, bridleways, and
footpaths that we did approximately just 400 metres on 40mph roads!

If
the oak before the ash then we're in for a tiny splash, if the Ash
before the oak, then we're in for a bit of a soak.
Well
the oak trees are out at least 3 weeks early this year and by all old
wives tales that means a long dry summer. The horse chestnut
trees are in full blossom right now and the hedgerows are thick with
Queens Anne's lace - cow parsley.
By
the side of a large field of yellow rape we came across the Maidenhead
model airplane club flying their planes and gliders. See the video
here....
Under
the A404 is a secret path that leads down to Bisham and the towpath at
Temple. Ice creams at the lock, new calves and cows along the river
bank
"half
the time they munch the grass and all the time they lay,
down
by the water meadows in the lazy month of May
a
chewing
a
mooing to pass the hours away!"
Then
a rounders match in Higginson park before heading home through Quarry
Wood and along the ridge of Winter hill.
A
perfect Day! We'll do it again soon if anyone wants to join in!
