The last day of the Cookham Festival was
Bank Holiday Monday 7 May 2007. The day started off damp and got wetter
and wetter. The plan was to have a picnic on the Old Cricket Common in
Cookham Dean and the organisers were starting to get nervous. It was
decided that if things had not got better by midday it would be called
off. Then just in time the sun came out for a bright sunny
afternoon.

The day was run by Cookham Bridge Rotary
and apart from the Kaffirs' Pimms tent and the Scouts barbecue there
was dance, music, drama and fun for all. Click

Eighty five intrepid souls also took
part in a half marathon fun walk as part of the Festival. This idea
was born after a Cookham Summer FM radio show covered the Moonwalk
which takes place every year in London. Willing walkers found it very
difficult to get a place on the Moonwalk and the logistics of walking
overnight in London can be somewhat daunting, so it was decided to
bring it to Cookham instead.
All
money raised from our walk is going to the Parapet
Breast Unit Charitable Trust Fund in Windsor. The funds will help
them to update their facilities with the aim of improving the quality
of care and overall patient experience.
