Mr
and Mrs Harrold opened their lovely gardens to the public as part of the
National Gardens Scheme on 23rd April. In spite of a
wet and grey start which the Marathon Runners had to endure, at 2pm the
rain had stopped and visitors started to appear up the drive. Their house Little Harwood has a
garden of two acres with both formal and informal areas. There is a
terraced garden which includes a water garden, a rock garden, Herbaceous
border, and herb garden. In addition there are large specimen
trees, also clipped yew and hawthorn hedges.
There
were 231 adult visitors, plus children and dogs, which (including
donations) raised £694.41 for the National Gardens Scheme. Plant sales
in aid of Compassion in World Farming raised £287.25 and Teas raised £330.10
in aid of Holy Trinity Church Cookham Parish Centre Refurbishment Fund.
Our thanks to Tom and Brenda Copas for allowing parking at Mount Farm.
