Cookham
Dean resident Roger Danks has just come home from what most of us
would consider an adventure of a life time. Roger has spent some 47
days in a tent at Everest base camp and successfully reached the
summit of Lhotse, the world’s fourth highest mountain and
‘brother’ to Everest. The climb involved the treacherous ascent
through the Everest icefall, the Lhotse face and traverse, the
yellow band and finally the steep couloir to the summit.
This
is not Roger's first attempt at conquering summits around the world.
Roger’s previous sorties have included Mera Peak, Amadablam in
Nepal and Montblanc and the Matterhorn in the Alps.
