WOMEN'S DAY 2019

Happy International Women's Day! Last year something remarkable happened - business women and families from the community of Cookham and Maidenhead funded small business training for 100 women in Gende Tesfa in eastern Ethiopia. It's no exaggeration to say that the changes on the ground have been quite profound and your generosity is bringing about sustainable change with less children needing the Breakfast Club.

At the end of November, Sarah Parfitt took Damian and her children to Gende Tesfa for the first time, and they met several women who have been affected by poverty and leprosy but they are now successfully running their own businesses thanks to PFC Ethiopia. Sarah and her friends have sponsored small business training for a mum called Aisha  - she runs a delivery service using her horse and cart and also has some chickens. Aisha literally threw her arms around us and wanted us to tell everyone over here that her business is making a profit so she is now able to help other women in her community.

This International Women's Day, we are hoping to fund small business training for 30 more women in Gende Tesfa.

Genda Tesfa is currently going through a difficult time with violence spilling over from conflicts in Somaliland, and this makes our support to women and families over there all the more vital. Please help if you can! Thank you. It costs £100 to offer someone small business training and a recyclable loan:
