It was the late 1990s when discussions started between the Parish Council, the Royal Borough and the Environment Agency about Lullebrooke Bridge (sometimes called Odney Bridge), not to mention a few comments from John Lewis at the Odney Club. The problem was the bridge was in a bad state of repair, particularly with heavy Environment Agency lorries going over it and it needed to be repaired, the cost however was around £50,000. The first question was who was the the owner and the second who would pay for it.
Today all the negoatiations came to fruition when the bridge was opened after its refurbishment. A surface skimming is still needed but the bridge is totally unrecognisable compared to the old broken down one everyone that has been an eyesore to residents and visitors alike |
