Bienvenu Saint Benoit

2018 was the year that the French from Cookham's twin village, St Benoit in France, arrived to visit us in Cookham. They arrived on Saturday 20th October 2018 and in the evening had a reception at Richard Simmond's house, Richard is president of the Twinning.

On the Sunday the visitors and their hosts had the option of a church service at St Elisabeth's Catholic church in Cookham, followed by lunch at the Odney Club and then in the Evening bowling at the Greyhound, Eton Wick.

On the Monday there was a coach trip visit to Oxford firstly to the Bodleion Library including Duke Humfrey's Library, then on to the Sheldonian Theatre and a walk through the covered market. There was then a light lunch at the Mitre

In the afternoon there was the opportunity to visit Exeter College with a guided tour in both French and English. This was followed by a walk to the Natural History Museum and Pitt Rivers Museum.

Back from Oxford and it was a social evening at Cookham Dean Cricket Club with Curry and Music. Richard Kellaway of the Fabulous Shirtlfters provided the music with some of his friends.

Only too quickly it was Tuesday morning and time to say goodbye to our French visitors. Next year Cookhamites will be visiting France.
