THE FUTURE OF LONGRIDGE

(23 June 2005)

Save Longridge Scout Boating Centre for Scouting and Youth

For nearly fifty years the Longridge Scout Boating Centre has been a pre-eminent hub of water-related activities in both Scouting and the UK.  Up until now Bucks and Oxon have run Longridge as a local consortium, but they decided to pull out and after a lengthy campaign a New Longridge Consortium has taken up the challenge on a national basis.  Last weekend the Committee of the Council agreed to new arrangements which will save Longridge. But only if the new Trustees can raise £1.5 million to buy the freehold for an independent Longridge Scout Trust.

Visit our website at http://www.friendsoflongridge.org.uk  and make an initial contribution. Tell friends and colleagues, or anyone you can think of who cares about future generations of Scouts and young people and the quality outdoor activities for them. We would be very happy for you to use any of this material to spread the word. Contact us further at info@friendsoflongridge.org.uk.
