The Cookham Youth Project was set up in 1998 after several young people had spoken on Cookham Summer FM asking for more facilities to be provided for them in Cookham.

We very much need people to help with the Tuck shop on a Monday evening, even if you only can make it once a year, no experience necessary and just one hour of your time. Also if you would like to show the young people any activity, sport, acting, nail painting anything at all they would love it. Phone 01628 525130 for more information. |

Monday evenings Every Monday during school term time, the Cookham Youth Project runs a Youth Club for 11 to 14 year olds. We meet at Cookham Dean Cricket Club, just off Whyteladyes Lane, between 7.30pm.and 9.00pm.
The evening is very relaxed, providing the young people with an opportunity to meet up with their friends. This has proved to be particularly valuable for those youngsters who at the age of 11 find themselves moving on to schools that are different to those of their close friends, having a regular meeting time seems to help with this transition. Most of the time they like just to chat and listen to music. We do have a pool table, table tennis, darts, basketball, table football and a Playstation2, plus various games should they feel the need for some entertainment. We have just purchased an air hockey table. We have visits to the Club with quizzes, special evenings organised by BACYP, make-up for the girls and drawing and painting. We also arrange some activities such as wall climbing, bowling followed by a pizza and circus fun to name just a few. In the main though we find after being organised at school they are more than happy to just chill out. If you are interested in finding out more about the club please ring Liz on 01628 525130. If we become oversubscribed we do have the opportunity to open another evening. We are also looking for willing parents (and others) to help us out from time to time. It really is not too onerous. Membership If you know of anyone who would like to join please ask them to contact Liz (01628 525130) |

Outreach Project The Cookham Youth Project undertook an Outreach Project to try and meet some of the 14 plus age group and to find out if the Community of Cookham is doing all it can to ensure that facilities are available for this age group and that they feel part of the Cookham Community. This Outreach work was undertaken with the backing of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. We now have a good feel for what the young people would like to see available.
We are also looking at the possibility of a drop-in after school perhaps a day a week for an hour or so. We are currently trying to find a suitable venue for this and again we will need helpers. The Cookham Youth Project is a registered charity and is run by a Management Committee of ten people. The Cookham Parish Council have a nominated representative on the committee, as do Cookham Dean Cricket Club. Also Holy Trinity Church is represented. We are always needing helpers either once in a while or on a more regular basis, do come and help, it is fun. Contact Liz on 01628 525130. All Youth Workers are CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) checked.
