What
a lot of artists we have in Cookham! They all descended on the
shopping parade in Cookham Rise on Saturday morning and showed us
their talents using chalks and paving slabs. Artists as young as 18
months worked alongside senior citizens to create colourful and
original ephemeral art . Parents were encouraged to join in too and
got thoroughly absorbed as did the younger participants.
Sunflowers
grew out of the grey slabs, accompanied by beanstalks, pink daisies,
butterflies, ladybirds, snails,
rainbows, teddy-bears, rabbits, caterpillars, tanks, and
numerous other colourful patterns and pictures which travelled along
the railings and up to the fishing shop door. There were wonderful
examples of collaborative work and the artists showed their
enthusiasm by getting thoroughly coloured in chalk in the process.
A
good morning was had by all and the results are for everyone to
enjoy…..until of course the rain comes down.
