Crime: 28 January 2008

The police have been very active across hotspot areas of Maidenhead, particularly over the weekend. As a result crime levels are well down.

CRIME:

PINKNEYS GREEN

23-25/1 Powney Road. Burglary dwelling. Entry through insecure rear window - Sat. Nav, Jewellery, camera and rucksack stolen.

BOYN VALLEY

28/1 Attempted Burglary. Norden Road. Owner heard the back door open, which had been left insecure. He disturbed the offender who immediately made off.

CAR CRIME:

6 Thefts From Cars. Can I remind anyone that has a neighbour with a VW Golf with leather seats that these are still being targeted. In one case over the weekend, an offender was disturbed stealing the seats. He left them beside the car as he made off. These leather seats cost a fortune to replace !

A lot of the burglaries at the moment are through insecure patio or rear doors. These are burglaries that should not have happened. Thieves are always on the lookout for the easiest option - walking in, instead of breaking in, is the easiest option. Please can you warn everyone, to lock their rear / patio doors and make sure no keys are left in doors or visible through windows. Also remember catflaps ! Thieves can reach up and remove keys from the inside.
