Crime: 27 February 2008

Firstly can I thank those people that rang through at the beginning of the week reporting Nottingham Knockers - young lads going from door to door selling household products. As a result of those calls PC Dave Higgs went out and did some stop checks and sent me the following:

There were about thirteen of them in the area on Monday 25 Feb. I checked four of them and they all had the same identification cards. They were all picked up in a transit and I spoke with the co-ordinator about the reports of their behaviour. They went back to Reading.

I want to reassure everyone, that calling in these things, does result in something happening. Last night someone phoned in from Elton Drive that kids were trying car door handles. They made off in a white van which was traced by the police. Please, please have the confidence to phone. Your intelligence is vital to us in our fight against opportunist thieves, who move around the area very quickly.

If you have nice hanging baskets I suggest you wire them up to make them difficult to steal.
