Crime: 25 April 2008

All sorts of things going on - we need your help as it is right across the police area. Anything suspicious to the PEC please on 0845 8 505 505.

Lead is still going, mainly at night when anyone on a roof working, must be suspicious - particularly if there is lead piled up anywhere ready to go. If you have visible lead flashing or garages or outhouses covered in lead, in the current market, it will cost a fortune to replace - hence the thefts. We suggest you paint it with 'anti-graffiti' paint which would be a cheap preventative measure. This remains 'sticky' and anyone touching it gets covered in paint which is hard to remove. If you know a public building such as a school or church that has lead near you - please keep an eye on it. Vans parked up and people working on those roofs need to be phoned through if suspicious - as it would be after general working hours !

CRIME:

HOLYPORT:

23/4 1 - 6 a.m. Arkley Court. Entry through insecure rear door - laptop, camera and car keys stolen. This means house and car locks must all be changed immediately !

21/4 - 24/4 Arkley Court. Renault Espace stolen. There was also a criminal damage to cars there on the 16/4. Can everyone there remain alert ?

22/4 - 23/4 Cresswell's Mead. Garden fence panels damaged.

18/4 - 21/4 Ascot Road. School had lead flashing stolen.

FURZE PLATT

23/4 - 24/4 Linden Road. Lead flashing stolen from flat roof of a surgery.

OLDFIELD:

23/4 10.15 - 10.17 p.m. Ludlow Road. Alpha Romeo damaged in the road - 2 lads arrested.

BELMONT:

25/4 Early hours. Belmont Crescent. A handbag was stolen from the kitchen worktop using a pole through the dog flap. The Crime prevention advice is obvious. This is what opportunist crime is about. An offender looks through a window and sees 'an opportunity'. If we look after our possessions, it cannot happen. Saying that - how many of us do these things without thinking there is a consequence ? The credit cards have been used and items from the handbag were strewn around across the road in Culham Drive. Were they thrown out of a car ? Did you see someone doing this ?

INNER MAIDENHEAD:

22/4 - 23/4 Fotherby Court. Lead flashing stolen.

COX GREEN:

23/4 1 - 2 p.m. Farmer Way. Entry through forced rear patio doors - jewellery and cash stolen.

23/4 9 p.m. The Fairway. Neighbour saw people with torches in the school, heard the alarm sounding and phoned the police. Later discovered 10 laptops stolen. Second time this month (31/3 -1/4 fire exit forced and 16 laptops stolen). Did anyone else see anything suspicious at about that time ?

COOKHAM

22/4 - 23/4 Cookham Road. As many as 10 allotment sheds broken into.

24/4 5.50 p.m. Grubwood Lane. House alarm activated. Entry through smashed rear window - TV, camera, cash and car keys stolen. All house and car keys must be changed immediately. I do not know but as the alarm sounded, the offender had time to carry out a quick search and remove the above items. If you live anywhere slightly remote you need a monitored alarm system rather than a street sounding system. If it would roughly take a police car 15 / 20 minutes to get to you, the thief will know this. With a sounding system you are relying on 'someone' phoning the police. These are fine in urban areas where they act as a real deterrent. With a monitored system, the call centre notifies the police on your behalf.

BURCHETTS GREEN:

23/4 12 noon - 6.30 p.m. Burchetts Green Lane. Entry through forced window - jewellery stolen.

BISHAM:

24/4 1.30 - 3.30 Grenfell Road. Car passenger window smashed - laptop bag stolen and discarded but loose change taken.

WALTHAMS:

22/4 - 23/4 Mire Lane. Some ponies have appeared in a field.

I reported a burglary in Thurlby Way on Wednesday. A lad has been arrested for that offence.
