Crime: 27 March 2009

If you have an off road motor bike please make sure it is extra secure at this time ! They are being targeted in Windsor at the moment - Spring and good outdoor weather approaches.

As the weather improves and people start to think about their gardens again after the winter, it's shed break time. Secure mowers, sucker blowers and other garden tools and post code them visibly please. A green mower with a neat postcode painted in a contrast colour is very unlikely to be stolen as it has no re-sale value. Start to think about side access to gardens, the old prickly plants - Berberis, roses etc. Shed locks and hinges should not have screws which are easily removed, but round headed bolts secured from the back.

Pc Dan Brown the neighbourhood Officer for Oldfield Bray has asked me to put a message out about the local car crime going on there. As you will see below The Croft was targeted again over the last few days. Last night, because Boyn Valley had been targeted 2 Shifts of police officers mounted a night time operation there. As a result at this moment we have had no car crime in that area. Other areas are now being looked at for similar operations.

Just to add, Shift officers in marked and unmarked cars, as opposed to your Neighbourhood teams, operate 24 hours 7 days a week. We have a tasking system so that they patrol where we have most crime so that they can re-act swiftly to any calls we receive. 2 or 3 times a week the 'taskings' are reviewed so that they are where they are needed most. They continually circulate and carry out stop checks of anyone out and about in the early hours or cars driving around at that time that appear to be out of place. Last night 3 lads in a car were stop checked just north of Boyn Hill. They were known to the police in Wycombe. We are doing our part, but we need your calls to direct them more accurately. If you look at most of our crime, it is overnight in the early hours - when things are quiet. If you are awoken or hear anything that draws your attention, please just phone the PEC on 0845 8 505 505. You may hear a dustbin lid clatter - it could be someone climbing on it - it is no problem for us to direct a car to the area to have a look. Anyone creeping around, going up and down driveways, acting suspiciously around cars should be an immediate 999 call. Please help us to make you safe and protect your property at night. Let us work together.
