Crime: 1 April 2009

Last night Cox Green was hit for burglaries - NONE in the Windsor area - but Old Windsor was hit for car crime and NONE in Maidenhead !

Just some additional information for you. It is believed the Chauntry Road burglaries may have been accessed from the river. A neighbour saw two suspicious men in a dingy on the river a couple of days before, which may or may not be linked. I am making contact with the Environment Agency to see if they can assist with any sightings of suspicious activity on the river.

29/3 - 30/3 Culley Way, Cox Green. Car entered by unknown means - SAT NAV stolen.

31/3 Daytime Wessex Way. Burglary through forced rear patio doors - jewellery, SAT NAV, games consoles, camera and camcorder stolen - no jewellery left out anywhere please. All jewellery you never want to lose should be hidden where it would take a thief more than 5 minutes to find - he will only be in the house a few minutes and will look in the usual places !

1/4 Early hours. Bracken Road. Burglary through front door - handbag, laptop and mobile phones stolen. Handbag later recovered discarded I the road.

31/3 -1/4 Rylstone Close X 3 1st entry via the letterbox - Electrical items, keys and the Ford Focus on the driveway stolen. 2nd - Coat hanger used to get in, left in the cat flap- unknown what was stolen. 3rd - Unknown means of entry - possibly letterbox, again not known what was stolen at this time. Several issues here - the letterbox means of entry cannot be used if the houses where double locked at night - it only takes a second ! Catflap means of entry can only be used if a key is left in the door - it only takes a second to remove keys from doors ! Did anyone see or hear anything ? Putting a TV into a car is a strange thing to see in the early hours !

Again, we are only hearing about suspicious people hanging around after the crime has taken place and the police make enquiries. Please encourage everyone you know to think about what they think is suspicious behaviour - it is anything that draws your attention. Someone standing in a road waiting for a lift is normal and you will ignore it because their body language is relaxed - non verbal communication - a thief looking about to see if anyone is watching just attracts your attention - its what we have instincts for - we must use them. The number as always - 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers in complete confidence on 0800 555 111.
