Crime: 6 April 2009

After a quiet period, crime increased over the weekend very suddenly. There is a message if you live in the outer reaches of Maidenhead - leave nothing on display in your cars. Due to increased police activity elsewhere, thieves are now targeting our outer reaches where traditionally drivers have been a little more relaxed about leaving SAT NAV's and other things on display.

Windsor was very badly hit as well, so please make those calls - it is in your own interest.

CRIME:

BISHAM, COOKHAM, HURLEY & THE WALTHAMS:

2/4 - 3/4 High Road, Cookham Rise. Car keyed for the second time this week.

4/4 - 5/4 Choseley Road, Knowl Hill. Car keyed - again second time in a week. When my car was keyed last summer the re-spray cost was £2,500. That is no joke and is often more than the value of items stolen in a burglary. My car was also in the garage for 2 weeks. The police take this very seriously and criminal damage is a crime so 999 any sightings.

1/4 - 2/4 Broom Hill, Cookham Rise. A plant pot and shrub, stolen from outside a house.

3/4 - 5/4 Broom Hill, Cookham Rise. Car passenger door lock forced - no entry gained.

2/4 - 3/4 Shurlock Road, Waltham St. Lawrence. Burglary through forced front door - nothing stolen.

3/4 11 p.m. Bisham Village. Burglary through forced rear door - laptops, mobile phone, camcorder, and camera stolen. The owner returned and he and a neighbour saw a white Ford van with 2 men driving away. They gave us a partial plate - HX 05. Where is that van ? The police are very interested in its whereabouts - 0845 8 505 505 please. If you see it in your road it is possibly up to no good !

3/4 - 4/4 Bisham Village. Burglary through forced rear window - cufflinks stolen. These cars / vans are out there every day looking for potential targets. Someone must have seen this van in such a small village and thought it odd. We should have received a call !

31/3 - 3/4 Shurlock Road. Burglary through forced front door - alcohol, ornamental plates, thimbles and other ornaments stolen. Whilst they were there, they helped themselves to a snack and caused some damage !

Everyone needs to get together and agree to phone through anything suspicious to protect everyone else - it's the only way to protect the outlaying areas. Thieves must see that as soon as they drive through the villages - they are spotted !

The number as always - 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers in complete confidence on 0800 555 111.
