Later a member of the public saw a man driving a JCB down the road and phoned the police. When they arrived the thief made off and tried to flag down a taxi. A man was arrested.

24/4 Daytime. Station Road. Burglary through forced rear patio doors. - Cameras, laptops, X Box & mobile phone stolen. 2 men have been arrested.

25/4 2 p.m. Shurlock Row. Index plates stolen from a car. If Index plates are stolen, we enter this fact onto the Police National Computer, in case any car using those plates goes through ANPR (automatic Number Plate Recognition) anywhere in the country. Generally they do not flash up, so we have very little idea why they are stolen. We are checking the congestion charge database. If you have had number plates stolen and something unusual or suspicious happens later that may be connected, please let us know.

25/4 2 p.m. Cookham Dean Bottom. 2 men distracted a female driver by asking directions, while a third reached in and stole her handbag.

25/4 - 26/4 Norden Meadows. Burglary using the letterbox method - Handbag, laptops, mobile phones and jewellery stolen. If the mortise lock on the door is used when you go out and the door double locked, no-one can get using the letterbox method. Just as importantly - if you have a burglary and there is no damage - your insurance company may well consider you left your house 'insecure'.
