Supt
Tim De Meyer asked me at this mornings briefing to let you know there have
been yet more arrests of prolific offenders. This time based on a report
from a member of the public. A SAT NAV had been stolen from a car. The
CCTV operators saw 2 well known offenders trying to sell it in a public
car park. The police were called, but before they got there, the offenders
had hidden the SAT NAV in some bushes - observed by a vigilant member of
the public, who phoned it through. Another lad was also arrested for
assaulting a shopkeeper, who had detained him for shoplifting. This
continual pressure on offenders is reaping rewards, as the message gets
out that the police will not tolerate offending on this patch !
We
have been receiving calls from concerned residents, who have been
telephoned by security companies over the last few days. The calls are
raising concerns. They are trying to make appointments and of course you
may inadvertently reveal when you are out, away, or on holiday. They also
ask if you have an alarm and what security you have in your home - window,
door locks etc. Please remain alert.
Our
advice, is never to give anyone any personal information about yourself,
or you home, over the phone to anyone. You have no idea, who is on the
other end of a phone. Do not give them your address, nor your name, they
may only have a phone number and addresses would be available from the
electoral role, if they have a name !
