Crime: 17 June 2009

Some more good arrests this morning. Yesterday afternoon there were 2 offenders seen breaking into cars, because the witnesses made their presence known, both offenders immediately made off, but we have good descriptions. As a result of one witness phoning through a really good description immediately of the offender, a young lad was arrested nearby, half an hour later. Though we did not have continual visual causal connection - we could arrest him because he physically matched the description given and his clothes matched exactly - we had reasonable suspicion that he had carried out the offence. That is why your phone calls are so important and good descriptions vital. We may have had a call that a car / house was broken into by someone who looked X wearing Y. You, possibly several streets away, see someone acting suspiciously looking X and dressed Y. You get the picture ?
