Crime: 4 August 2009

Crime is well down on last year - less than half the offences - that means of course half the victims ! This is mainly down to the hard work of our Neighbourhood Teams and specialist departments, who are targeting our known prolific offenders arresting them at every opportunity - taking them off the streets.

We are also having major successes with ASB as a result of the night time economy in the town centre. This is also down to the hard work of the police working together in partnership with the borough and other agencies. We have a new policy of road closures and the issuing of on the spot PND fines - which seems to be working.

Lock down in Larchfield Last night ! Excellent results.

Incidents in Raymond Road Riverside / Belmont on 1st August. Not only were 2 lads arrested but when the police searched the hedges around the houses there, a bag containing SAT NAVs was recovered. We are checking these out now to see if they are stolen. Please keep an eye on your hedges and behind the small power boxes beside the roads when out walking. Thieves often stash stolen items ion the area for collection later when things are quieter. Please check your hedges for plastic bags of swag.

CRIME:

BISHAM, COOKHAM & HURLEY:

2/8 1 a.m. Quarrywood Road. Group of lads seen acting suspiciously. Later discovered a shed had been broken into and 3 bike stolen.

30/7 - 31/7 Sutton Road. Barn break-in - Quad bike and machinery stolen.

30/7 - 31/7 Temple Mill Cottages - car badly keyed.

13/7 - 2/8 High Street, Hurley. 2 garden chairs and a lawnmower stolen.

BOYN HILL, COX GREEN & WOODLANDS PARK:

Last week I mentioned 20/7 - 21/7 Laburnham Road. 18 cars had their aerials removed. This number has now been increased to 32! I have just checked the police computer and only 5 have been reported as stolen. If we catch the offenders, it will make a great deal of difference as to how they are dealt with if we can only charge them with 5 offences. It also make a great different to planning police activity and partner involvement if we do not have a true picture of what is going on. Please report all these types of incidents. If the aerials weren't stolen but damaged - that is criminal damage - which is still a crime.

1/8 9 p.m. Roxborough Way. Sign damaged.

3/8 11 p.m. Boyn Valley Road. Car had 3 windows smashed possibly to steal a SAT NAV. Suspicious lads seen nearby who made off.

2/3 - 3/8 Cox Green Lane. Car broken into by unknown means - Video camera stolen.

4/8 Early hours. Lowbrook Drive. Burglary over the garden fence and through the dog flap ! They apparently exited the same way - 2 laptops, camera, jewellery, keys and a black Peugeot 307 stolen index RA 05 LLV which the police are anxious to locate. As this is not the usual type of car stolen to order, it may have been dumped in a quiet road somewhere.

1/8 - 2/8 Aldebury Road. Car driver's door lock forced - SAT NAV stolen.

RIVERSIDE & BELMONT:

25/7 - 26/7 Lassell Gardens. 2 hubcaps and a front grill stolen from a car. I do not have details of the make and model.

1/8 Midnight. Raymond Road X 2. Witness saw 5 or 6 lads looking into houses and cars along the road. One house was entered and a bottle of wine stolen from the fridge. The police attended and a lad was arrested. Another house was entered but the owner disturbed him. He was also arrested.

1/8 Ellington park. Small hole discovered in a house window.

2/8 - 3/8 Alexandra Road. Car broken into by unknown means - Golf clubs and sunglasses stolen.

OLDFIELD & BRAY:

29/7 - 30/7 Glebe Road. Garage break - 2 bikes stolen. Earlier in the week the aggrieved had seen a white van driving slowly down the road looking up driveways into houses. they thought it was very suspicious, but did not think it was worth reporting ! They would now and take the index !!

24/7 - 25/7 Horseguards Drive. Unlocked car entered and searched.

30/7 8 - 9 p.m. Bray village car park. Car rear windscreen smashed and suitcase stolen.

2/8 - 3/8 Brunel Road. Index plates stolen from a car. These were later put on a car to carry out a bilking at 6 a.m - filling up with petrol and driving off.

PINKEYS GREEN & FURZE PLATT:

1/8 - 2/8 Pub in Pinkneys Road. Number plate stolen.

30/7 9.30 - 10.30 p.m. Marlborough Road - car front windscreen wiper stolen.

1/8 - 3/8 Greenleys Unlocked garage entered - Car inside had its driver's window smashed and searched.

1/8 - 2/8 Lutman Lane. Car broken into and its steering column damaged and cowling removed - possibly an attempt to hotwire and steal it.

3/8 9.45 p.m. Courthouse Road. Neighbour saw 3 men acting suspiciously around a neighbour's house. They were seen to go to the rear of the house and the police were called. The police attended and found an attempt to break in but the offenders had made off.
