Crime: 24 August 2009

Some really good work by the police. There was a rave planned to take place under an underpass off the A404 in Hurley. The first one some weeks a go was prevented, the second was permitted to continue because it was far enough away from any residential properties that it did not pose a 'nuisance' and was merely a matter of trespass for the owner of the land. The third over the weekend was also prevented.

A M,AN CLAIMING TO BE FROM THE WATER BOARD WAS LET INTO A HOUSE. He said he wanted to check the water pressure as a neighbour had been flooded. The aggrieved is elderly and deaf and cash has been stolen. We - members of NW - should be there for all the elderly members of our roads. They are courteous and sometimes lonely, so a knock at the door is usually answered. Under our bid, they will be the priority for the SelectaDNA, and we need to know exactly where they are to prioritise them. Can each co-ordinator please start carrying out surveys of their roads so that as soon as the bid has been approved and the SelectaDNA purchased, we know who to send it out to.

23/8 7.30 - 9.20 p.m. Cookham Road. Car window smashed - SAT NAV stolen. It must be boring for you to read time after time - SAT NAV stolen - please pass this message to everyone you know. If they are not going to use it, SAT NAVs must be left at home - not dumped in a glove box.

Not too bad. Still insecure rear doors and items left in cars. We must take responsibility for our own possessions. It is in our interests. When an insurance company finds out from the police reports that we have been negligent with our property - they rarely pay out !!! Laptops, mobile phones and SAT NAVs are expensive to replace. If you have a contract for your mobile phone it usually comes with a subsidised phone. If you replace it - you will have to pay the full retail price of the phone ! Something to remember.

The number as always - 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers in complete confidence on 0800 555 111.
