Crime: 25 September 2009
Crime low and much lower than this time last year. Below are some brilliant examples of the public phoning through suspicious incidents to us. If you phone it through we will attend. As you can see in both cases the police found cars broken into and in one they called out the Dog Team. If necessary we will call out the Helicopter - that is what it is there for. We cannot be everywhere. We need you to direct our limited resources to where things are happening. We plan their patrol strategies on past crimes in the last 24 hours. With your help we can make it much more accurate. Look at the cases below - do you want these lads walking around in the early hours in your road ? If you think something is suspicious - it is - phone it through, you will not be wasting our time. We make the decision as to whether or not to attend. If we can we will !

They saw a white youth, 20s, 5'11", stocky build, curly black hair, multicoloured floral T shirt, black shorts on a mountain bike acting suspiciously. Beside the car, then saw another youth hiding down beside the car, described as: white, 6', short shaved hair, dark clothing. Another suspicious lad joined them on foot as they walked away: white, 5'8'', blond hair, dark clothing. What brilliant descriptions - I hope we could all do as well. Practice this skill - you never know when it will be needed. Try thinking about describing someone you know, then as you are walking around, practice describing someone you have just seen for a second or two. Your powers of observation will increase - I assure you. 24/9 1 a.m. Aldebury Road. 3 suspicious lads - one on a bike !!! came from the cricket ground area and were seen walking onto people's front gardens looking around and trying car door handles. When spotted they ducked into Partridge Mead ! Police attended and found a Volvo with its door partially open and interior lights on. The car had been searched. You never know the whole part of a story. If your bit is suspicious - phone it through to the PEC on 0845 8 505 505. In this case as the lads were trying car door handles and going up and down driveways - that should be a 999. The people in Partidge Mead did not know what had happened in Aldebury Road or any other road nearby, but you can bet your life, they were not the only 2 roads these 3 lads visited. The old Jigsaw principal. We can only put the whole picture together, if you phone through all the individual pieces.
