Crime: 21 October 2009I have just received a message from our Priority Crime Team to say that a man has been arrested and charged with a burglary in Edinburgh Road, Maidenhead on 6th October where a large amount of jewellery was stolen. Unfortunately none has been recovered. All the security products have NOW arrived for us to really begin to roll out SAFE AS HOUSES. With SELECTADNA we can for the first time, property mark jewellery. Thieves will no longer be able to steal jewellery in the Royal Borough with impunity. Until now, a gold chain or diamond engagement ring were virtually unidentifiable and even if stop checked and the chain found, we would not be able to 'prove' it was stolen. With SELECTADNA, all that changes. It will be much more dangerous for thieves to operate in the Royal Borough from now ! Car crime has crept up a little. Can everyone make sure they leave nothing on display when they park their car - just look at the number of items left in cars ! You know it makes sense.
