Crime: 7 January 2010

A salutary lesson last night. As bad as the weather was, our opportunist thieves still have a drug habit to support and were out and about. We must never make it easy for them - still SAT NAVs left in cars. That makes us all a potential target. Can you remind everyone you know to adopt the clear car principal as one of their New Year Resolutions. We will all benefit.

CRIME:

BISHAM, COOKHAM, HURLEY & THE WALTHAMS:

5/1 - 6/1 High Street, Hurley. Garage break - cooker range and chopsaw stolen. 3rd incident in the High Street in about 3 weeks. Can everyone be on the lookout for anything suspicious in this area and report it to us immediately on 0845 8 505 505. let us make the decision as to whether or not what you have seen is significant - the old jigsaw principal.

BOYN HILL, COX GREEN & WOODLANDS PARK:

6/1 5.45 p.m. Cox Green Lane. Snowball thrown at a house which smashed some leaded windows.

4/1 1.30 a.m. Rutland Place. The owner heard their front door open. Fortunately the door chain was across and the person could not get in. Door chains are not generally supposed to be put on in this way. You only use the door chain when answering the door. The door should have been double locked using a Yale type rim latch and a key turning mortise lock.

6/1 6 - 8.20 p.m. School in Altwood Road. Someone broke in and stole items from a sports cupboard. The alarm did eventually activate.

RIVERSIDE & BELMONT:

25/12 - 29/12 Prince Andrew Close. Car broken into by unknown means and searched - nothing stolen. Mazda MX5

6/1 3 - 4 p.m. The crescent. Car passenger window smashed - SAT NAV stolen.

INNER MAIDENHEAD:

Nothing to report.

OLDFIELD & BRAY:

6/1 6 a.m. House alarm activated. Upon investigation footprints around the entire building and leading up to each door. A pallet had been placed under the alarm - no entry gained.

PINKNEYS GREEN & FURZE PLATT:

Nothing to report. Sometimes we need to stand back and think about how things have changed. I could very rarely have said that about this area a couple of years ago. Things have improved enormously, thanks to close co-operation between community groups, local residents, The Borough and the police - all working together.

The number as always - 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers in complete confidence on 0800 555 111.
