Crime: 3 March 2010

There is a large amount of behind the scenes work being carried out by the police at the moment. Loads of offenders are being arrested and brought to custody, which is really sending out a strong message - crime will not be tolerated here. The Police are also carrying out foot patrols over night in areas that have suffered crime recently such as Belmont and Riverside, concentrating their efforts targeting known prolific offenders. Anyone out and about acting suspiciously during the early hours is stop checked by those police officers on foot patrols. There have been a large number of these and by stopping, chatting and identifying them, those people quickly leave, knowing they would be automatically connected to any crimes in that area.
