Crime: 4 March 2010
Good News ... There were no burglaries in Maidenhead. Windsor and Ascot in the last 24 hours.
This reflects the enormous amount of behind the scenes work being carried out by the Neighbourhood and other teams of police officers working in co-operation with our partners at RBWM.
A note to add - Due to the quick reactions of a member of the public who phoned the police immediately, when they saw an offence occurring and excellent co-operation with the RBWM CCTV system, 2 offenders were arrested and brought into custody. I cannot release any more information at this time, but a statement will be issued as soon as possible.
CRIME: BISHAM, COOKHAM, HURLEY, THE WALTHAMSD & LITTLEWICK GREEN: 1/1 - 31/1 Sutton Road. Lead stolen from a garage roof in the garden of the property.
BOYN HILL, COX GREEN & WOODLANDS PARK: 3/3 9.30 - 11.15 p.m. Welbeck Road. Car broken into by unknown means - CD player & CDs stolen.
RIVERSIDE & BELMONT: Nothing to report.
INNER MAIDENHEAD: 3/3 8.30 P.M. Fast food outlet in Bridge Road. A lad was seen acting suspiciously in the area. CCTV shows an insecure car entered close by. Loose change was stolen and the incident was witnessed by several people.
OLDFIELD & BRAY: Nothing to report.
PINKNEYS GREEN & FURZE PLATT: Nothing to report.
I would like to gather your views about Ringmaster messages, to make sure it serves both its Police purpose and your needs. The aim as always is to improve the service we provide: 1. Frequency: Too frequent, not frequent enough, about right. 2. Content: Too detailed, not detailed enough, about right. Are there additional areas you would like covered ? 3. Do you receive enough information from our partners such as Bucks Fire & Rescue / RBWM etc. Would you like more input ? 4. I now have an 'emergency message' facility which overrides the time constraints. What sorts of messages would you be happy to received 'out of hours' ? 5. Format. When I prepare a message it is formatted in Microsoft Word then copied and pasted into Ringmaster. It appears in the message creation screen, paragraphed and logically set out. When it arrives in my email box, all the formatting has gone and I end up with large jumbled paragraphs. That, I can do nothing about (I have tried to double space everything today, to see if that makes a difference). Is the Neighbourhood format OK ? I could separate the message and send each neighbourhood, its own messages. I do not do this at the moment, though it would be simple to do this, because all of our Neighbourhoods abut another and often, an offending pattern crosses the Neighbourhood boundaries, or a crime in one, may only be streets away from another Neighbourhood, which could suffer similar offences. If a crime is affecting several neighbourhoods, I feel it is better for everyone to know that. There may be a route between the offences which passes through, or close to your road and you therefore need to be aware. Crime moves about, but usually criminals stick to one method of crime, one smashes car windows, another forces car door locks. As we mount police operations and night patrols in one area, it can displace the crime to another. If you are aware of that - you can park your car in a garage, well lit street, leave nothing in it, ensure your CCTV is working well, set your alarm, double lock doors and windows etc. You may have seen a car driving away / offender acting suspiciously from an incident which took place in another Neighbourhood, about which you would know nothing. 6. Awareness. Do the messages increase your fear of crime, reduce your fear of crime, confirm the situation as you know it to be, something else. 7. Do you read the messages and find them useful ? 8. Any improvements you can recommend ? 9. Any thoughts at all. As always, I would like your input. I am anxious that I am not spending time delivering a service that is not tailored specifically to your needs. All replies to my police email please: Jeffrey.pick@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk
