Crime:
2 June 2010
Supt Tim De Meyer at this morning's briefing
asked me to remind you to make a note of your mobile phone's IMEI number.
Every person that is stopped checked has their mobile phone checked in
case it is stolen. They can change the SIM Card, but not the IMEI. It is
the serial number of the phone itself. It's very simple and you will be
asked for it, if your phone is stolen - *#06# - asterisk, hash zero, six,
hash. Its very simple.
An example of the commitment of our police Officers:
A PC attended an incident in Eton. As he was taking a statement from one
of those involved, he heard an Anti Social Behaviour Incident coming in
over the radio. He asked the person if they minded waiting a short while,
so that he could attend the other incident. They were agreeable. As he was
not a police driver, he commandeered a car and was taken to the incident
in Brocas Street, which had been phoned in by several residents. He
arrived in time to arrest the offender, who was still there damaging a
car. He took down all the witnesses details and returned to his original
job. As soon as that was finished, he went back to the Brocas Street to
complete that job as well ! How's that for a good afternoon's work !!
We may have a problem once again with the theft of disabled badges from
cars. If you have had one stolen, but not reported it to the police,
please report it, so that we can see if there is a pattern.
