Crime:
18 June 2010
We had 3 burglaries across the LPA in the last 24 hours, 2 in Maidenhead
and 1 in Windsor. 2 appear to be connected, both are houses being
refurbished or having building work done. In both cases, it was the
builders' tools that were stolen. If you are having work done, or you have
neighbours, work colleagues or family that is - can you warn them please.
Skips, scaffolding Builders signs and piles of materials outside, make the
properties easy to identify.

Sometimes people ask me why I have not reported this or that crime in
their road. Above is a prime example where the crime has only just been
reported
Some help please.
As the bike marking initiative has been so successful, we want to give it
a name. Shortly, one of my volunteers - Ken - will be producing an online
registration form, in order to create an online database, for the whole
LPA to access. We will keep photos of all the bikes there - as JPEGs. If
we recover a bike, we can search the database by colour / make etc. The
photos will show any additional items such as water bottles, drop
handlebars etc.
One of our 'old' - by which I mean previous Crime Reduction Advisors -
Malcolm Wills, that many of you may remember, was very good with these
things and has suggested Lycra:
Locking
Your
Cycle
Reduces
A ?
He couldn't think of anything for the 'A' - Anxiety, Attempts - Can you
help ? We have just received another suggestion 'A long walk home' ! Can
you think of anything more appropriate ? Once we have the database up and
running and it works ! We will send it across to Bracknell and Slough -
and if they find it useful - the whole Thames Valley. So, it needs the
right name - Please don't let me down !
The number as always - 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers in complete
confidence on 0800 555 111.
