Crime: 24 June 2010

The Community Safety Team had a meeting this morning with Supt Tim De Meyer the Area Commander and Chief Inspector Dave Gilbert. They are very impressed with the response of NHW to the bike marking campaign - LYCRAAAAH. They would like to be able to let every resident in the Royal Borough know that we are carrying out these kinds of initiatives. As I have said, as soon as we have sent out all the new bike marking strips / fluorescent stickers and forms, Caroline and I will start work on a car crime project - an apposite project name please ?

We will have had requests for over 2,000 bike marking stickers and if we could be as successful with cars, we could easily make an impact on our opportunist thieves - we are looking into it - but you will be the bedrock of any initiative. So that we can be ready, can you sign up everyone you know to Community Messaging ? It is simplicity itself. They do not need a form - all they have to do, is go online:

http://www.tvpcommunitymessaging.org

That site covers the whole of the Thames Valley, so they can sign up to receive messages wherever they live, work, or spend time.
