Crime: 25 June 2010


Firstly some good news - 2 lads who were well known to us, where arrested for theft of lead in Maidenhead.

Now some bad news:
Unexplained death - Maidenhead

Thames Valley Police is investigating the death of a person during a house fire in Moor Lane, Maidenhead, this morning (25/6).

Emergency services were called to the fire at about 12.40am. and the fire was extinguished at about 3.45am.

The body of a person was discovered at the house. The victim has yet to be formally identified.

A number of people escaped from the property during the incident. One man was taken to hospital with leg injuries believed to have been sustained during his escape. He remains in hospital this morning (25/6) and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A woman is also receiving hospital treatment for injuries associated with smoke inhalation .

Thames Valley Police detectives are working closely with the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service to establish the cause of the fire. A cordon is in place to allow investigators access to the scene.

Det Supt Karen Trego, leading the investigation, said: "Although the investigation is in its very early stages, we are treating the fire as suspicious. We appeal to anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible."

Neighbourhood officers will be carrying out reassurance patrols in the area today.

24/6 1 a.m. Broom Hill, Cookham Rise. Attempt to steal the copper rack from the top of a van.
23/6 - 24/6 Hurley Lock, Mill Lane. Boat broken into and fuel stolen.

BOYN HILL, COX GREEN, & WOODLANDS PARK:

No crime to report.

RIVERSIDE & BELMONT:
24/6 Daytime. Blackamoor Lane. Wing mirror smashed off of a car.

INNER MAIDENHEAD:
No crime to report.

OLDFIELD & BRAY:
No crime to report.

PINKNEYS GREEEN & FURZE PLATT:
23/6 - 24/6 Lyneham Gardens. Tube vault containing copper piping unscrewed from the top of a van and stolen.
