Crime: 29 July 2010

PLEASE BE AWARE:

We had an incident yesterday of a fake fascia part being placed over a bank ATM machine in Windsor. Can everyone be alert ? Thieves move these around regularly and generally only place them on a cash till, for about 30 minutes at local peak times when people are rushing and not paying quite so much attention.

If you are going to use a cash till, use one you are familiar with. Give it a quick once over. Sometimes a complete fascia has been stuck over the existing one. Have a look around the edges - or the joins. The card insertion slot is generally flush – is it raised, is it secure ? Is there someone standing nearby acting suspiciously ?

Please do not try and remove anything, but simply walk away and phone the police on 999 if anything is not as it should be.
