Crime: 26 August 2010

Well, what a success yesterday at Ascot’s Golden Age ! Our North Ascot contingent line dancing ! There was so much on offer – tax advice, health and fitness, cookery demonstrations, Tai Chi, Smile – Simple Chair Based Exercise for the less mobile, Julie Isaacs from the Berks Fire & Rescue offering free home fire surveys and free smoke alarms, The Community wardens from RBWM, Trading Standards, Julie Howard from repair with Care - too many services represented to go into, but what a brilliant event. Congratulations to Cllr David Hilton and his team who work so hard to make it such a success. We really need similar events in Windsor & Maidenhead !

While talking to local residents yesterday, several mentioned they had seen suspicious cars parked up in their roads, but did not want to bother the police, because they were not actually doing anything wrong. Would the police think this a waste of their time ? The simple answer, absolutely not ! We base our policing upon intelligence supplied by the public and you are therefore a vital resource to us – eyes and ears. Please do not hesitate to call – simply say the Neighbourhood Watch man has told you to call – ‘I don’t need a visit, I am just passing you information that you may find useful’. 'I live in the road at the – whatever activity it is – is out of the ordinary / not the usual type of car / drivers etc for this road and it drew my attention'. PEC number – 0845 8 505 505. If of course, you think they are part of a crime that is, or about to happen – its 999
