A busy weekend – but it does cover 4 days !

Some messages:

1. Over the weekend we have had burglaries through insecure rear doors, cars left unlocked etc. in both Windsor and Maidenhead. Clearly our message is not getting through to everyone. It appears people simply ignore warning street signs and leaflet drops – they are busy and anyway they are only going to be a few minutes and it won’t happen to them !. What we would really like to do, is to sign up every single resident in the Borough - in fact the whole Thames Valley - to Community Messaging. I have all the necessary memory space on the database. If they read the messages perhaps it would bring the message home that opportunists are out there all day every day, 7 days a week waiting and watching for a mistake to happen. Can you forward this to everyone in your personal address books, both personal and work. It doesn’t matter that they don’t live in the Borough, other Administrators will pick them up.
All anyone has to do is go online at - tvpcommunitymessaging.org - and self register. It could not be simpler. We need everyone to register. To hear what, where, when and who is being targeted to motivate them to just take that extra care. Please help. We don’t want any more weekends like this one. Please send the link to everyone you know !

2. Members of the public in the Thames Valley can play a greater role in bringing serious offenders to justice with the launch of a Most Wanted website for the region.
It allows members of the public to look at pictures and E-fits and view CCTV footage of people currently wanted by the police in Thames Valley. The site is run by the independent charity Crimestoppers, which allows people to give information about crime anonymously by telephone or via the Crimestoppers website.
Launched in late 2005 the national Most Wanted site has successfully resulted in the arrest of more than 900 criminals, for offences ranging from murder, rape and drug smuggling to robbery and assault.
Members of the public can find the gallery of Thames Valley’s Most Wanted criminals at: http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org/in-your-area/south-east/thames-valley and click on Most Wanted.
The Most Wanted website for this region is being officially launched at the Thames Valley Police Open Day at Sulhamstead, West Berkshire, on 4 September.

3. A really good photo of us launching ‘Secure with Care’ at the Golden Age !

4. The Inland Revenue / HMRC are asking people to forward to them any scam emails you get supposedly from them. To: phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk They hope to be able to track the perpetrators down !

5. Catalytic converters went from under 2 cars at Legoland over the weekend. Traditionally thieves hit all the theme parks then do a few 'on road'. It only takes a few seconds with metal cutters to cut them off. Please keep your eyes open for anyone working in the road under the back of a car and phone it through to the PEC on 0845 8 505 505. If there is nothing untoward going on, a visit from the local police will not cause a problem !
6. If you missed, or could not attend the Golden Age celebrations - all is not lost. Another similar event is being held in Maidenhead, in the Desborough Suite at the Town Hall on Friday 1st October between 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Very similar exhibitors, health , fitness, welfare for those over 50. poster attached
Just to add – you will see jewellery and TVs stolen ! We all know ther should be no jewellery anywhere it would take a thief less than 5 minutes to find it. That means not i=on the dressing table or in bedside cabinets – you know the drill ! Big flat screen TVs – if you have it on a wall visible from outside the wall bracket must have a locking mechanism to prevent it being simply lifted out. You must not attract easy crime !
